How to Transfer Pokemon from Pokemon Shield to Pokemon HOME

To move Pokémon from Pokémon Shield to Pokémon HOME, you’ll need the Pokémon HOME app installed on your Nintendo Switch. No Premium Plan is required unless you want access to extended storage or Bank transfers — the free plan is enough to move Pokémon between Shield and HOME.

Open Pokémon HOME on your Switch and select “Pokémon” from the main menu. Choose the user profile associated with your Pokémon Sword save file. When prompted, select Pokémon Shield. You’ll now see your PC storage boxes from Sword on the left and your HOME boxes on the right.

Drag Pokémon from Shield’s boxes into your HOME storage. Only Pokémon in PC boxes will be available — party members and Eggs cannot be transferred. It’s a good idea to organize your boxes in Shield first so you know what you want to move. When you’re finished, press the “+” button to save and finalize the transfer.

Once the transfer is complete, your Pokémon are safely stored in HOME. You can move compatible species back into Shield, or send them to other supported games like Sword, Scarlet, or Violet. Transfers must be done using the Switch version of Pokémon HOME, though you can view and organize your collection using the mobile app.
